One-Stop Crisis Cell

 

Eight One-Stop Crisis Centers (OCCs) in Dhaka, Rajshahi, Chittagong, Sylhet, Barisal, Khulna, Rangpur and Faridpur Medical College Hospitals are being run by the Multi-Sectoral Programme on Violence Against Women. These OCCs are located at the Divisional level so major portion of violence against women and children cannot be able to come in to these centers.  To extend the support for Women and Children victims of violence around the country 60 One-Stop Crisis Cell (OCC) were established including 40 in District Sadar Hospitals and 20 in Upazila Health Complexes.

 

 

Objectives of the One –Stop Crisis Cell

 

The main objective of the One-Stop Crisis Cell is to provide information to the women and children survivors of violence regarding various services i.e. health care, police assistance, legal advice, psychosocial counseling, rehabilitation, reintegration etc and refer them to the relevant organization.

 

 

Major activities of the One-Stop Crisis Cell

 
  • Coordinates the activities of the relevant ministries and divisions to combat violence against women and children.
  • Disseminates the judgments and directives of the higher courts to prevent physical and sexual violence and mental torture.
  • Participates in advocacy programme  to prevent early marriage and dowry.
  • Cordially attend the victim and listen their problems and take necessary steps to provide services to the victim without delay.
  • Follow up the cases of the victims
  • Ensure the medical services of the victims.
  • Ensure the psychological counseling of the victims.
  • Establish referral linkages with the existing services of government and non-government organizations in the district and upazila level.
  • Routinely monitor and follow up to ensure that the referrals are made.
  • Meeting with stakeholders committees to monitor coordination and progress of the cell.
  • Participate workshop, seminar, meeting,  exhibition, symposium to popularize the issues on VAW prevention and making awareness among the common people.
  • Help to establish linkage between the One-Stop Crisis Center of the tertiary level medical college hospitals and One-Stop Crisis Cells at district and upazila level hospital.
